Greetings,
We had a tornado come through last Sunday and it took the roof off of our friends 1860’s two story brick home. They run a winery that my wife works at and we have spent the last few days helping them clean up the wood, glass, junk, and what few personal items that they had in the attic.
I was sweeping downwind from the house looking for his military medals and any other valuables that were scattered across the fields when I found this shotgun barrel with a shell still in it. It must have been in the wall or under the floor of the attic as they have lived there for over 25 years and had never seen it before. (We did find the medals and a few silver dollars that he had stored in the attic).
The barrel has been sawed off rather poorly and it has a “crooked” serial number of 630820 on the breach lock. The shell says U.M.C. co Nitro Club No. 12
Anyone have an idea on the age and maker?
The owner told me that it was a hell of a way to get a new roof!
