I also found this in my sons yard today. not absolutly sure what it is but it looks to be a torpedo from a toy boat or sub it is chromed pot metal and quite heavy. anyone seen these before? it was about 8 inches deep in dry hardpack dirt so unless it was burried on perpose I would think it was pretty old

Big T: Back in the mid 50's I had an Ink Pen that looked just like that find of your's. Try to check it out but I don't want you to break it!

If it came from a toy it was a higher-end one. 50's and older would've used metal for that piece. I don't know if there would've been such a torpedo with a submarine toy, maybe a PT- or other Motor Torpedo Boat, like a German E-Boat?
I'd check the collectible toy resources, can't be too many of those.
