A four-hour hunt at an old Baltimore park yielded copious trash and some keepers. First good find was the 1944 quarter. The signal was a solid "81" and I was surprised at it being just 3-4 inches deep, being a silver quarter. It was in an area of fill dirt. I think this contributed to the heavy tarnish. Because of the shallow depth and discoloration I figured it had to be a clad quarter.
Many trash digs later I stumbled upon a deep penny. This came out of the ground with a heavy crust, so much so that the date was not visible. After some cleaning at home, I was pleased to find that this is an 1874 IHP.
Within ten feet of the IHP I dug two wheats about ten inches apart and both about 3-4 inches deep, shallow. The dates varied widely: 1958 and 1910. So it was a warm day in Baltimore and I was beat at the end.
This was my first hunt that I recorded, so stay tuned for a future link to the video.
