Train station woods - silver, plus.

Today Hollowpointred and I hunted a wooded area near an commuter train station. I had hunted the place before briefly and didn't find much. But I was told by another friend that I should give it another try because silver had come out of there. The area must have been a picnic and/or camping grounds in the past. Today, it's carved up with hiking and biking trails.

It took quite a while before I found any coins. There were alot of shotgun shells in those woods and a few buckles. Finally after about an hour I hit my first coin, a 1920-D Mercury dime at about 2-3 inches. Shortly after that I found a 1948 Roosevelt dime. It was laying just below a layer of leaves. Keith and I took a short break after a couple hours. Then we decided to give it another couple hours. In the afternoon, I found mostly clad coins and memorial pennies. However, I did find one decent Wheat Penny (1917) and a US Army button. Keith found an Indian Head penny and the remains of an old pocket watch, and some other things.

those shotgun shells really slow you down! i know from experience... nice silver- worth all the cap digging!

Looks and sounds like hitting the old train station paid off for both of you. Great finds on the silver and wheaties.
