You let the cat out of the bag with this one, now didn't you. I remember the good old days in a rare trip to Las Wages, you could wander around in the casinos during the wee hours of the morning, (there were no tickets then). But still people would accidentally leave credits on the machines. Press the magic button and out they came to be tucked in my pocket.

Now if i do happen to find the small tickets like you do, i save them up, put all of them in one machine and then print a new single ticket out. Makes it easier at the payout window or machine and less attention will be paid to what you are doing.

Now if I just had every coin I removed from a coin return on any vending machine when I was younger......

It is a lot like bass fishing. Bass are where you find them. Money is where you find it.

Keep recycling that paper!

Thats great exercise to look forward to Bob.
How many dumpsters do you dive into on your
way back home from the casino?

Better watch it Bob! You're being watched!

If there is nobody on a machine and it has credits on it, I don't think the casino would hassle you if you print out the ticket. It's going to go to the next person that plays the machine anyways. And why would they want to create a scene for what amounts to small change?

On the other hand, if it's a substantial amount of money and the person only stepped aside briefly to get a photo or to get a friend to look at the machine and you zoom in there and cash out and run away laughing like a mad hatter, they might have a problem with that!

Now when you put your tickets into the machine that converts them into a cash payout, pay attention to the amount you receive versus the amount shown on your ticket. At this same casino I was shorted two cents by the payout machine! Individually not a big deal and I certainly didn't spend the time to get someone to give me my two cents but it did get me thinking about how many payouts those machines make in a day and what if they did grab a couple cents from each one? Oh I know it could have been an isolated incident. But I prefer the paranoid conspiracy theory view on things. I envision some vending hacker programming the computer in the payout machine to hold back a couple cents on any transaction less than say, $300.00 if the amount is an amount including a fraction of a dollar rather than a whole dollar amount. Who would complain if you got $273.64 instead of $273.66? You'd be happy to walk away with ANY money!

It was amazing to me how many people were so anxious to toss away their money on the Friday night that I visited the place. $50 minimum bet on the roulette tables and you couldn't even get close to the tables because so many people wanted to play. So instead I got on the video roulette machine which was 25 cents per bet, and left when I had more than doubled my money.

I don't know, it sounds like you are one step closer to becoming a mall walker or wearing an adult diaper and sitting at a slot machine all day...

Hey bob! I think I'm gonna start joining you. you wanna know why? My uncle was there not too long ago, had a $500 ticket, and a $2,000 dollar ticket. Guess what happened..... he lost his $2,000 ticket while tipping a waitress and never found it.

Bob and Jon,
I was searching on the web and I don't know where this Casino City Times is written, but there is a line about unclaimed credits belonging to the Casino and that investigations will take place if they suspect you took an unclaimed one. I'd just be aware of this, just because you don't want your treasure hunting to be considered stealing under the law. I'd probably look into Illinois law concerning this, but it may just be that since the Casino is a private business they can 'claim' that as their property. A $5000 ticket, would probably be considered a felony if they were really pressing the case. But, do what you want.
