My usual spots are getting picked clean, so I went back to a spot I tried over the winter. I didn't have much luck then there was still snow and the ground was frozen. This site is located between a railway and a stream that run parallel with each other. There was a lot of history along the stream but its pretty trashy. At one time there were factories all along the stream. There is also lots of garbage as its on the edge of a city. Not having any where else to go I gave it a shot. I had trouble ground balancing my Vaquero, the ground had lots of coal and coke from the railroad. Once I got it balanced not even a minute later i popped out the 1889 Indian penny. Once I found that I decided to stay so I started clearing some of the tree branches on the ground from a recent storm. I eyeballed the ring while picking up branches, it was laying right on top of the ground. The ring has a large 7 stamped on the inside and what looks like 777 also. It has a silver color to it and doesn't disc out at maximum discrimination. I think its made of copper it looks dark around the edges like the plating started to wear off. I also found a set of car older car keys and a copper penny coin spill. There was maybe 10 copper pennies in a small area all dated in the 70s. I am happy with the penny it cleaned up quite well. I think that is the 3rd or 4th from that year that I have found. All the other ones were toasted so I'm happy it cleaned up nicely!Happy Hunting Everyone!!!
