Hi everyone,
I am considered 'new' to this site although I have been around for a few years.

My wife and I are planning a trip to Florida in November near the Orlando area. I am planning to take my White's XLT and my Tesoro Piranha for some beach detecting.

We went there this spring and I tried detecting on Daytonna, but it was like a rock and I felt that most of the coins/jewelry would not have even sunk into the sand. I found one penny that was only about 1 inch deep in about 1/2 hour.

Any advice on a good soft sand beach would be appreciated. I tried Clearwater on another day, but didn't have much luck there either.

Later,

Believe me, anything that is dropped sinks. I use a scoop and I am always digging coins and jewelry that is anywhere forom 6 to 12+ inces deep.

Some hunters like the Cocoa area to hunt, for me I don't really care for it, the beach is steep and therefore very narrow. I prefer the Daytona area myself.

Shoot me an IM closer to when your going to be here and maybe we can get together for a hunt if you wish, I live in Orlando.

I dont have a metal detector but i do know of some spots not on the beach but old ferry crossings that I think would be great. I am doing some research and I know where river holes and shores are. Been ding a lot of research on some areas let me know whe your in the area. joe
