Hit up a local park with a tot lot. I find about a buck in change. Way more than I usually find here. Then I get this weird signal at about 6 inches. Odd I've been over the area before and there is nothing left that deep because I've already dug it before. I dig about 6 inches and see nothing, I stick in the hand probe and BEEP. Well something is there. I dig a bit more and find a string and pulled it and out pops this. I assume my detector was picking up the zipper pulls and the probe hit one of the cards with a magnetic strip. Some one had buried this wallet with a drivers license, library card and gym card. I am thinking some one lost it and some kids found it and took the cash and then buried it.
I am turning it over to the police tomorrow and they can contact the owner. I never thought I would dig up a wallet. Totally weird!

Yea that is really odd, I just hope the owner is OK?
It looks like if some kids took it they wouldn't take the time
to bury it.

Wow, funny what kids have in their pockets these days, huh ???

wow that is wierd hope you get an update on this .

kinda creepy too .

It sounds weird to me. What "robber" would take the time to bury a "stolen" wallet. I hope that the owner is okay too. Please keep us updated as to what happens.

Hope you find the owner...guess you can use the library or Jefferson County, CO authorities. Please post update.

Sheesh !!
I'm glad you took the high road and contacted the police .
Hope there is a good outcome.

That is a truly unique find. Atleast the owner of the items might get a bit of piece of mind knowing what actually happened to their items. Sounds like your synopsis of what happened seems to be pretty sound.

Even though I said I was taking it to the police the next day it was not until today 9/26/07 that I actually turned it over to the police. The local sub station is only open 8 to 5 Monday through Friday and this was the first chance I had to return the items while they were open. They took my name, drivers licence number and phone number. I really don't expect to hear anything back from the police. At least this lady will get her id back and some sense of what happened after her wallet was lost or stolen.

Keep us posted, that's really strange someone would take the time to bury it.

Hey Big Al,
Unique find!! What general part of the city did you find it in? That gal kind of looks like
a gal my wife used to work with at an Albertsons. I'll have the wife take a look at the
picture and see what she says. I'm going to have to try a tot lot.
