Trying to reassemble the pieces

Hi All,

I had some details a few years ago about an island but now I can not find them or it. This is what I remember:

1. There was supposed to be a treasure on the island.
2. Daily rainfall, mosquitos a big problem to searchers.
3. One inhabitant a German I think who had been a soldier and settled on the island after returning
to his home country post war and becoming disgruntled.
4. A waterfall that drains into a hole. During a big storm seawater was pushed up through the hole
reversing the flow leaving behind a few coins and gemstones at the opening of the hole the
waterfall drains into. These were found by the German after the storm and shown to the author of
the article that I can no longer locate.

Thanks Rockfshr that could be it. 300 different attempts wow I wonder what the total expenditure was for all of that. I had seen the Cocos threads here but didn't put the two together, I was looking for the waterfall story.
