Hello everyone, I got a new detector a while back and would like to get my old one checked out, it's not a big name one but It's been good to me. It started doing a bunch of chattering I turned down the sen. but didn't help. I gave up on it and put it away for the winter months. Now I would like to get it working so I have a extra one for back up or just one to have if
someone would like to try the hobby
Anyway got it back out today put fresh batterys in and its working better. I put some clad on the ground and It only picks up on it when your like 3 to 4 inches above it. I have dug my oldest coin with this machine at around 10 inches a large cent. It's a MD3080. just wondering if it would be worth getting checked out. Looking for some opinions. Thank you everyone. And HH

It's a made in China detector. Can't remember which one I got from Kellyco, I had to send it back as I had to whip the coil at about 12 feet per second, to get it to beep repeatedly on a small coin down 3". I think there is a Chinese site with detectors made there, that might show this model & air test distance on a quarter, or you might find it on that big auction site.

The made in Asia website is ali-baba put that in a search engine for precise URL. You can buy numerous American made detectors on used market for $100 or less. The Chinese detectors aren't worth tuning up if you have to pay somebody $100 to do it. The potential just isn't there. A large corroded copper coin will beep deep, but as you noted it only detects clad at 3"-4". Air testing the AT Pro, I get 10' on a dime, sensitivity 7 out of 8. The AT Pro is a great detector & your best finds are still to come. Congrats on the large cent. Best wishes, George (MN)

Thanks for your reply George and I'm thinking your right. Well guess I'll retire it then Lol thanks again and HH to you my friend.
