Two buffs and a V.....nice "winter" hunt in PA!
Hello All......went to a brand new site today that was suggested by the manager of a local state park. According to her, this section of the park had some old structures or "cottages" on it when the state acquired the property. She said the structures were all but gone when the state took over but that I could probably find the remnants of some of the old stone foundations. Temperature got all the way up to 42 today here in PA with bright sunshine and no wind so I thought it would be a great time to scout the area.
My first and second targets were penny sized and thus far I have not been able to ID either one. The third target is dime sized but again, too corroded to ID so far. Targets number 4, 5 and 6 were all nickel size but only one of the three was recognizable at the site as a Buffalo nickel. After getting back home and trying the toothbrush and water I was pleasantly surprised to find the other two were a Buffalo and an 1889 V nickel. I was not able to get a date off either Buffalo but the 1889 on the V came through very nicely. My final target of the day was a nice old skeleton key.
