Tried one of the new big cornfields I've gained permission to recently. Nothing on the old maps to suggest it had a homesite or anything, but it is tucked away and runs near a river that connects a couple of towns founded in the 1760s, so I thought I'd give it a shot. I walked along the circumference and detected for about an hour, finding just a handful of signals (3 of which were cans), was about to give up, then dug up the bat mobile! :dontknow: Well, i figured the day was a wash, but decided to finish a half circle and kept walking the edge...then zing! A solid 12-41 on my new etrac. Out comes a beautiful George II halfpence that ended up cleaning very nicely. Fanning out from there, about 90 min later I found another copper, far more worn *edit: may be a counterfeit KGIII*

I just love the definition on the 1735...my best condition Brit copper yet. Thanks batman!

Anytime you can read the date on a "dug" copper that old it's a good one.

nice -- love the batman

great coppers!, good instincts on that field, I bet theres more there!

Thanks, Cjon! I'm encouraged, though the size of this field is a little overwhelming. You just never can tell...maybe there's a Spanish silver just waiting to be freed! Of course, could just end up finding a gi joe from the 80s

Nice patina on your KGII. Good digs.

Love the 2 LCs. :headbang: You have a great site to spend your time.

Very nice George II and Colonial Batmobile!

I don't think that is technically a minie, at least nothing like the hundreds I dig.

Looks like a fairly modern .357 swaged lead bullet. Dimensions would help.

Thanks Sutphin! I sincerely hope that there is a cornfield in your future...

That is one beautiful old copper. The condition is fantastic.
