Hit low tide this AM and while there weren't a huge amount of targets I did manage to come home with two rings, one junker fitz-all and a nice fat silver that weighs in at 7.3 grams. The cell phone is trashed and Gazelle doesn't want this one so trash it is!
I wasn't going to go back out but I couldn't sit still so I hit the beach about three hours before the evening low. It was really calm and still out and easy to move around in the water. This spot was the same story, very few tgts and for most of the hunt the best I could lay claim to was the trashed buffalo nickel. The undated wheat and silver Merc dime came soon after but then it was "all stop" on the tgts for a while. I had just about given up and ready to call it quits when I got another high tone. I looked at the CTX screen and it was reading a 12.36 and sounding EVERY bit like the penny I thought it was. There was also some iron in the hole that was confusing things a bit as well. I dug the first scoop and was shocked when I saw the ring. Totally expected a bright shiny zlincoln penny! I figured with a higher reading it must be plated silver or copper, until I held it, felt the weight and saw how shiny it was, then I could see the 10K stamp. I was re-energized after that and gridded the spot pretty good and found nothing, not even any aluminum. Total fluke or recent drop?
All round it was a really good day. 3 rings, 1 x silver, 1 x gold and the silver merc, wheat and buffalo! Gold Ring #13, 10K, 7.6 grams.
Thanks for looking and good luck!
