Two more buttons and a surprise

Went back to what we are now calling the buttonhole site for the fourth straight hunt. Found the buttons and I guess a saddle shield. It has a date on it I think but can’t quite read it yet. Found one online exactly like it that was found in Virginia. Had a little rain over the weekend and thought it would help but seems to have just made the small pieces or iron sound better.
