My goal for this Fall is to explore as many new locations as possible. I was able to get out digging for several hours on Friday, and tried out a couple of new spots.

The first area was near a local pond, but heavily overgrown with some remarkably nasty pricker bushes. I was able to find some ground that I could swing over and quickly hit upon a solid high tone. This turned out to be a lovely 1964 2 -cent piece

A short distance away I got another nice signal. After hacking through some stubborn roots, out popped a 1870 Canadian 5 cent piece. This was a first for me, and I was amazed by its size...so tiny!

After another couple of hours, I didn't find any more coins, but did manage a number of interesting relics.

My second location involved a 30 minute car ride, a 30 minute bike ride, and a 20 minute trek through the woods on foot. An old map of this site from the 1700's looked promising. I spent 2 hours exploring the property looking for any signs of colonial activity. The area was very clean with few trashy targets. I also couldn't find a coin to save my life. However, I did come across two shoe buckle frames. One was pretty much a standard size, but the other was enormous. I've never dug a frame this large.

I'm looking forward to return trips to both of these sites. Thanks for taking a look. Happy Hunting t all!

This was supposed to be a new post. Don't know how the site stuck it the middle of this post.

That IS the nicest 2 cent piece I have ever seen out of the ground! To date I STILL haven't found one, and I dig lots of CW sites!

While two-cent coins often do well after 160 year dirt nap, your coin is exceptional, and yes, that's a huge shoe buckle. Must have blown your headphones off. :laughing7:

I'm sure you'll be delighted to hear it's 100yrs older Smokey.

There's nothing nicer than seeing the patina as sweet as that one there. Mother earths soils was kind that's for sure.

Congrats on the 2-cent, the Fishscale, and those lovely buckles. Two sites worth a return trip back that's for sure.
