Hit the surf today with the Excal and lived to appreciate it. I hit the gold band (10K, 3.91g, 12:24 on CTX3030 air test, fyi) in 3 ft of water after 2 1/2 hrs of MDing.

The silver (925, 3.58g, 13:47 on CTX3030 air test) ring came after 4 hrs of hunting and was in about 5 ft of water.

The seafloor was covered with sunglasses, as I recovered 4 pair. Unfortunately, three suffered a direct hit with my massive water scoop which rendered them junk. The 4th pair had been in the water too long.

Starting to feel better about my coin : gold ratio for the year. Now stands at 314:1; having found my 5th gold piece for 2017. Historical coin : gold ratio average is 250 - 300 : 1. But time is running out and we migrate North in the next week or sooo...gotta find that 6th piece of gold!
Hey gotta mention 2 really nice fellow MDers on the beach today. After 3hrs of MDing in the surf, one of them brought me out a cold Gatorade and it sure didn't last long. A kind gesture most appreciated. Reminded me of an incident when I was a young kid. A friend and I were walking down a long stretch of road when we saw an older teenager in the distance walking towards us drinking a pop. It was a very hot, sunny day and our mouths were so dry we couldn't spit. As we passed, the older teenager flipped us a quarter and said "go by yourselves a Coke!" And we both did. Had to figure-out what to do with the nickel left over.
