Tex, there was a "NY" militia button, but it was pretty crude and I don't think this is one of them. I'm not sure, but it may be an Imry Risley button made for reenactors? It seems too fresh to be anything much older. The old pewter buttons are usually in really bad shape. I may be wrong (hope I'm wrong) and it is much older.

Agreed, I think its a repro of an old button.
 

thanks guys.. there is not a flaw on the button it doesn't even look like it was worn. so you guys might be right. I'll show Jeff next week to see what he thinks.. thanks again HH Tex
