Hi All,

I flew home to IL for my grandfather's funeral and then decided to do some detecting while I was home. 2' of snow in Alaska and soft ground in IL!!

My Dad and I went out to one of the 6th tallest mounds in IL to see what was on top...the entire area was quiet, not even a pulltab or spent bullet. This was really weird to me as this location is a perfect location for a picnic back in the day. It overlooked the nearby town and was just beautiful!

We walked down a path to another area and I received three signals; 2 perfect silver dime signals and one pulltab!

I ended up with a 1918D & 1936 Mercury!

My detector went quiet after that, nothing else! All I can think is that a deer hunter lost the dimes while walking down the path...strange.
I usually find 15-20 pulltabs before a silver!
Enjoy!
Ang

Sorry to hear about your grandfather. Nice mercs!!

My condolences to your family for your loss. Its nice to hear that you and your father could find a few moments to walk and reflect. The merc's are grand, treasure that walk.

Thanks!

My grandfather lived to be 96, still healthy and had his wits about him. A retired farmer at the age of 77.
My dad and I love spending time together, we share most of the same hobbies, especially metal detecting. I left home (USAF) in 1986 and he lost his hunting partner, I'm home again so we went out to find some silver together, just like ole times!

Here's my Dad!

That is too cool Angie, you did well. HH Niffler

Very nice mercs. Almost perfect except for the dingy on the 1918. Congrats on your finds.
