Tybee Island/ Hilton Head info wanted...

I am planning on taking a long weekend trip to the Hilton Head Tybee Island area this coming weekend (labor day weekend) and was wanting to know about local relic hunting areas/laws. I will probably only have a single day to hunt (taking the family for an end of summer getaway)and would love a chance to dig a button or miniball, as they arent very abundant in my neck of the woods...

What ever became of your trip?? My uncle stayed a winter near Tybee but never took his detector with him.

I hunted tybee island georgia in 1998 with MD and found a penny and an aluminum can.

I wrote a book called Forts, Camps and Batteries of Georgia available at Kellyco for $18.00. It will soon be available on CD as well. I have all the Tybee Island sites listed to the best of my knowledge. All the union siege gun sites in measured distance from Fort Pulaski. You'll need a Topo map of Tybee Island that shows the fort then use the scale to determine distance.
