U.s. army collar brass

Hunted a friends house today, he told me his family has been there for 150 year. Started in the front yard and got a solid signal 4 inches down. Out of the plug pops a round object. I thought it was a lc, but when I moved it, I could see its a us army collar brass.
Next signal I picked up the silver plated pin that reads geman silver on the back, about 5 inches down. I picked up 2 buttons, a thimble, some buckles and ? Still had fun. HH
