U S army spoon - how old is it?

Found this today metal detecting an old field. It's a fairly large spoon with U . S . On the bottom and the makers mark on the back says silco.

The version you found was never issued as Field mess-equipment by the US Army. It is a non-regulation spoon made by Silco in the second quarter of the 20th-Century. (Note that the US marking on it is "plain block" lettering.)
