U.S. Detective pin: Found this over the weekend. Found it at an old railroad depot.
Most of the old stuff I find here is from the late 1800's to the early 1900's.
It appears to be a pin (The is broke off in the back.).
I am not sure what kind of metal it is.
Also, not sure if it's a toy/costume type pin or what?
I tried looking it up but cannot find anything.
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

jaybird, that is a neat pin/badge! At 1 1/4" it could be a toy/costume or lapel pin. Please provide a photo of the back side. Does it feel heavy for its size?

I'm thinking it's made of spelter or zinc, probably doesn't attract a magnet.
I found a pin similar to this one a few years ago, but mine came out of the ground in pieces. :sadsmiley:

Nice find,
Dave

That’s an awesome little find! I would say toy for sure just based on the size

Congrats Jbird! It may be just the photo but there seems to be greenish patina in some places. Rub it between your fingers and see if they smell like brass afterward.
