I've been hitting this field hard for the past couple of days and here are my finds.


Is this a spur?




the shotgun cap dates pre 1911!


any ideas as to what this was used for?

Cool assortment of old stuff! I'm no expert in anything, but the hook on the chain links could be part of a simple assembly that held a heavy cooking pot above a fire. The big pots had narrow curved handles which would be hung from a hook. I'm pretty sure they were used both outdoors and indoors above cooking fires. Andi
