ultrasonic cleaner--where to buy?

You might look at Wal-Mart, Walgreens, Target, K-Mart or one of those type of places. Check out their ultrasonic denture cleaners. I think they run around $20-30 or so. I use one mainly for gold jewelry but also to clean the excess dirt off coins. As for a cleaning solution, I use Windex w/ammonia.

Try Rio Grande Jewelry supply. I have one of theirs that heats the liquid. Works great. For coins, you might consider a rock tumbler with some media for cleaning and polishing.

harbor freight and kellyco sell them.

I bought mine from Sharper Image. Have had it for years and it still works great. I see they have one in their new catalog.

I have a old Heathkit one I built about 30 years ago to clean diving regulator parts.. Evey so often it craps out, but it just uses a simple transistor power circuit, a 555 timer and a couple of diodes. All the parts are still available, and cheaper than ever.. Just mild soapy warm water works well, I used to use windex, but forgot to dump it once, and the entire tank turned blue!!

You know that a rock tumbler will literally ruin the value of your coins right? I'm a numismatist myself and nothing lowers the price of a coin like cleaning it.

Ultrasonic machines - check for firearms suppliers

I suppose you are talking about cleaning you 'non valuable' finds, right?
