I got a box of dimes from my local bank today. In my first roll, there were 4(!) silver dimes. Then the next roll had 4 silver dimes. A few rolls later, 4 more. All in all, I found 20 silver dimes, all Roosevelt. They were all found in 5 rolls that had exactly 4 silver dimes. I also found a counterfeit dime (it appeared somebody superglued the front and back of a dime together) and three foreign coins. I couldn't believe my luck. The most silver dimes I had ever found in an entire box before that was 2. I will be going back to my bank as soon as possible to get another box. ;D

I just walked in and asked for one on the spot.

awesome finds!!
i have been on a dime skunk adventure now... :notworthy:

I must have really good luck because on top of this amazing find, only a week ago, I found a 1944 Henning nickel in my box of nickels. I didn't know what it was when I found it either but a quick Google search later and I was very happy with my find. Lol

Wow, that's a great box. I usually average about .5/1 box!

You need to enlist every friend and family member to drain the vault of dime boxes. Get them now before they are gone. Sweet cull of silver.

Wow! Nice dime box. Keep at it. "It's out there."

Here ya go. It's kinda hard to tell from my cellphone pic but you can kinda see where it looks like the front a back of the dime were sandwhiched together. I don't think it's a counterfeit per se, but probably somebody took the metal from the middle of the dime and put the faces back together.

thank you for the pic. what do you plan on doing to that dime? i would keep it for the pure novelty of it. you can see it if you look to the right of the dime you can see white where there should be dime.

I wish I could bring it to my bank and throw it into the counter to see if it would take but I'm afraid I'll lose it forever so I'll just keep it in my box o' coins. Besides, doing anything with it and knowing it's not a legit dime is probably illegal.

BTW, I'm curious to know how most people cash in the coins that are only worth face. Do you guys roll them, Coinstar them, or what? My bank has a free coin counter and if it wasn't for that there is no way I would be CRHing. I don't have that kind of patience nor would I ever pay the fees for a counter.

depends on the bank for me some will take rolled coins some won't i have used coin star and my primary bank has a free coin counter if you have an account.

I just pulled a 'sandwich' dime like that from a box....did you find any info about yours?

Great score wildwill , Wish you all the luck on your next trip..Thanks for the pics.

A "sandwich" dime is caused by corrosion. The copper in the middle corrodes much faster in some circumstances than the cupronickel cladding creating a groove along the edge like that.
