Hi all,

I found this unknown object along an old hiking trail with colonial history leading up to the present. It is all one piece and made of a bronze alloy. It consists of a c-shaped curve and a longer strip extending from one side. There is a small peg of iron protruding from the bottom of the long strip, as if it was attatched to something else. Along the c-shaped curve, there are 5 small teethlike protrusions.

I am stumped as to the purpose of this object and would appreciate any ideas. Right now I am thinking potentially a piece of horse harness equipment, though I cannot find any similar examples.

Thanks!

Back when polio affected many, leg braces were common. To me, that looks like a piece to an old leg brace.
