union hospital,day 2

don't think i've hunted a site w/so much junk.......literally a dump since c/w times.went back w/larger shovel(i normally only carry a garden spade)to dig dn.further in the area of the uprooted tree i found stuff in last wkend......only found water.it's been really dry for a mth.or more,it appears that this area is normally a marshland.hunted for a couple of hrs.& then ventured into an area thick w/swamp reeds,brambles,cattails & thorn bushes.the bad part was i didn't have a machete,the good part was there wasn't as much trash.i immediately found lead,a .58 minie,the largest cal.pistol bullet i've ever found & a small piece of misc.lead.didn't think much of that small piece until i got home & washed it.it appears to have been chewed,if that's the case then this small item is the biggest find of the day......this was a hospital!will be going back this weekend for round 3......w/ a machete!View attachment 1521746View attachment 1521746View attachment 1521746

Neat Finds!!! I have heard that a lot of the chewed bullets were actually from Hogs. The bullets originally had animal based lubricant grease on them and pigs would rut around and chew on them. Either way you found some neat stuff there!!!
