Yep, the Summit Hotel, now the Summit Inn, is located in Farmington, PA, close to Uniontown. It was opened in 1907, and is now on the National Register of Historic Places. It looks like it would be a great place to go.

Isn't Route 40 called "The National Highway"? I've traveled it a few times, camping at a place not far from Falling Waters. Looks like there could be hundreds of places to detect along that road. Vaguely remember seeing a few old homesites along it.

Yep, U.S Route 40 was one of the first US highways and at one time, ran from coast to coast. The significance, however, is that it was built on several OLD roads, including the National Road, built in 1806, and even Indian paths. Many of the sites I have researched are along this highway, I haven't had a chance to visit any of them yet however.

I was actually reading Gypsy's post about the Old Warner Farm on US 40. That was be a great place to check out. Just have to find it.
