It looks like something off an old piece of farm equipment, so you can adjust something and it will hold the lever in place.

See the circled item in the pick below. It may not be from a manure spreader, but I do believe it came from a piece of farming equipment.

If it was bigger, I'd say it was part of a pipe wrench.

Just by looking that the notched are angled the further you go from the center still leads me to believ it was from an old piece of farm equiment

Seems to be a fragment of some sort of escutcheon.

Appears to be cast iron, if so, not a pipe wrench part.

I'm kind of imagining the whole piece being 16 or 18 inches long, butcher paper fed through it from a roll and was torn off using those serrations.

Thanks for all the replies! When i handle is piece, I get the feeling that there was a slot in the center, it was mounted vertically, and it was made so that something could be adjusted up or down.

So unless i find some other pieces or parts, we may never know!
