Found this in a Calvary camp near Winchester Va. It seems to be made from mostly brass with iron attached to one side. It's 1.25" wide. IMG_1414.webpIMG_1366.webpIMG_1365.webp

Looks like a rosette / bit boss from here.

Could be a powder flask cap. If it has a iron rivet attached to one side , it could have been the pivot point to open the flask for refilling.
