I was detecting today at a house built in 1900, found the usual wheat pennies and even scored 3 merc's! 2 in one hole! Then I got a 12 39-12 40 on the etrac and popped this out of the ground about 6" down..Any ideas what it might be? Not sure what to make of this one. I'm thinking its brass but it seems a little light weight... I agree, it looks like a sword scabbard tip.

Maybe a bayonet or dirk scabbard tip?

Not military, probably a lodge sword, much smaller than a saber, hence the scabbard wouldn't be so large. ???
