Any idea what this would have come off of? Says 1/4 on the one side and nothing on the other side

Looks like it might be a size I.D. tag from a hardware storage cabinet.

My first thought that it was a dog tag, but that would be a very strange name for a pup. I guess you could just whistle a couple times and then say"come here quarter".

I can definitely see it being this it was found in an area where toolboxes were back in the day
