Unknown Vintage Part?

Does anyone know what this is? I forgot to measure it, but it probably is about 18” long. Marked “F & W”. Perhaps a plumbing or heater part? Any help is appreciated!

I believe F & W made water and well pumps. This might be the foot valve from the bottom of the suction line
that kept the line full of water so it didn't loose prime.
