Not much of a tool but made out of some very colorful stuff... not sure if its a heat treat or an import from Texas

I don’t know that exact lithic but Kansas has some great lithic materials. Flint hills coms in several shades. I bet we both find out some more now. I like it a lot.

Very nice color. I have a couple of pieces that might match. One from the Saint Paul area, years ago as a kid. I think I can locate it as it is a large knife or preform. Where about did you find this beast? (general locale. I have no interest in homesteading!) I am lithologically stupid but willing to be schooled. Will post a pic of the one I think matches if I can find it quick.

Located two SE Kansas finds that I thought might match.

Rats, I can't preview these to see if they really match yours, so I will post and then see if they are close. Sorry if I am way off.

Boo! My crummy pics dont even come close to showing the dark reds. Never mind!

I think you’re right on with the material, I took my pics outside because I know some colors are just hard to capture inside. I’ve only ever found a few flakes of whatever it is.

Yes. The reds on my pieces are as dark as yours appear to be. Both of these piece are Neosho River finds. The blade from just south of Saint Paul near the island. The scraper just north of Oswego, east side. I think I have a few more but they are definitely reds from being roasted in a fire. Thanks for posting.

If they are the same material then your big blade might be the key, that thumb print kind of texture at the tip is Florence chert, I forget a,b, or c... but if memory serves its found in the flint hills and fat may have had it right all along. To answer the other question I found it in my yard this morning up on a bluff near the Neosho

Still seems like it could be an alibate from Texas
