Spanish cob real counterfeit?

That was my first thought as well - Spanish or Mexican coinage.

Looks like copper, so maybe a maravedi?

It was obviously nailed to something. Isn't there an old superstition about nailing a coin on your new house for good luck?

I don't know anything about cobs but that looks a lot like lead or pewter to me. Could it be a contemporary counterfeit?

I see it now. You're right. Possibly pewter.

Pretty sure it's supposed to be a Mexican/Spanish coin.
