Unusual wear marks?... I know this is an a annoying one

I found this one along with the points I previously posted. The wear marks to me seem odd. They seem very purposeful and intentioned. It is a river cobble, and the patiena is worn away at very deliberate angles. Am I right in my thoughts or is this natural?
