I tried to clean up the GF ring you asked about, afraid it had just been in the ground for a bit too long. Still, not bad for something that might be a very old signet ring. Maybe somebody will recognize the hallmark?

Also, here's the other side of the mermaid, too roached to clean up.

Thanks for the follow-up post. Looks like you did a good job cleaning up the ring! I think it's quite nice and would be very happy with that find. The mermaid charm is cool too, my 5-year old daughter loves mermaids and would be very interested if i came home with a find like that I wonder how old the mermaid charm is. Thanks again
