This is an update to a post I made few weeks ago:

This fob had a nice layer of dirt on it but I could see some gold like gilding showing through. The old me would have brushed it with a toothbrush but I don't want to remove the gilt / plating? I tried soaking it in lemon juice for a few minutes and rinsing it off. The dirt came right off and revealed a really nice silver fob with way more shine than I realized it had. Citric acid works well, I use it myself sometimes on different minerals.
