Update on a former whatsit.

I posted this lil guy with another whatsit but today I found something that updates what it is, it is some sort of pin. The funny thing is this is also a "Today's Find". I never realized I had the pin part of this until today!

I was going through some old finds and noticed the way this pin mounted to whatever. It sort of looked familiar. Like a clover and I had seen that pattern somewhere before. Then I remembered. This little red legs guy, (which I still don't really know about). The spot on the back was a perfect match!




Just thought I'd share the new info. I'd still like to know what this guy was for and about how old.

It's a vintage stick pin, with a Brownie (see palmer cox brownie - Google Search for similar), but what it's doing with a flintlock? pistol, I have no idea. Not Girl Scout related, similar to English illustrations of Brownies (elves) I've seen. Couldn't find with googling, kept getting Girl Scouts or mouth watering chocolate confections, but hopefully, someone can take this info and run with it!

Yep, that flintlock throws me too. I don't know if it shows well in the pictures, but the whole thing seemed to have different colored glass on the parts. The legs appeared to have had a red like glass. That's why I called it lil redlegs. The red legs, flintlock, all seems to make this something to do with the British.

Maybe a satirical pin by some colonial? lol

Great piece. There were tons of those stick pins made over the years and I imagine that the diversity was great. That is a neat one. I think the "Brownie" characters were first created by Palmer in about 1880 to give you a idea of age of the pin.

You beat me to it.
Researching a spoon I dug years ago, says "Compliments of The May, Denver", and says The Brownies, with one holding a bat, with two sitting on a wall behind him.
Had no idea what they were.
Very nice find!
