I think that it would be considered a shingle hatchet. Put it back in to soak some more. You might find a makers name or mark.

I would put in my electrolysis tank.....it would come out nice. Iron is cool!

Congrats on the axe head Truth.
VPNavy has a chart on Axe heads that will identify that axe and it's age.
