Some finds from today's dig at the newly discovered ocean side "war dump" as I call it:
Finds of April 29 2015 2.webp

The belt plate has the letters "US" stamped on the left edge. On the right there is a shovel crossed with an ax. There is also a little "C" on the right edge.
Not sure what unit it's from. Can't wait to clean it up, there may be more detail hidden under the concretion.

Had some neat fun when I dug up this sealed wooden box. Was so sure I had found buried treasure. Turned out just to contain a rectangular piece of glass and a copper coil.
Must have been a piece of ancient electronic equipment, sigh:

Completely unrelated to the dig site, I spotted this piece of modern live ammunition on the side of the road while walking back to my truck.

I've found gold ones before, and I was certain this one was going to be gold too but directly under the huge printed "14K" in small very fine print it says "gold plated". Those sneaky nib makers probably fooled alot of people into thinking they were buying good quality solid gold nibs when they were in fact just plated. Oh well, still love this dig site. :laughing7:

Can't wait to see the buckle cleaned up. Nice digs, looks like a good spot!
