US Collar Disc?

Hello All. I found this a few days ago at an old church lot. I think it is a collar disc but I cannot find one like it on the internet. The patent number appears to make it late 1940's and I am guessing US Army? Please let me know what you know.

I usually think of that design as an Air Force thing.
-edit: Yes, like Matt said. I type too slowly.
-2nd edit: both of the patent numbers on the back of the clutch shown are from 1943, but still in use by the time the Air Force was formed as a separate branch.
