Looks pretty old, possibly it could be army?

Thanks pepperj, yes I have seen others apparently issued for WWII but the eagle was perched above a shield on those I came across. Not sure if this is older or not but it appears older.

I appreciate the link jewelerguy, thanks. Yes, looks similar with exception of the missing shield and some other details. I am hoping someone could shed some light on the mint mark and if these were made by the government or civilian jewelry vendors.

Very Nice!!! Congrats!!!

Nice save! It's marked sterling so that would date it before the 60's.After looking thru several pictures, i would say it is military but maybe one that was with a special unit. As far as the date..looks a little to old for WWII and not old enough to be pre 1907.. My guess....between 1910 to 1938.

I have one similar from 1918 but the eagle is different then yours. The face plate is similar design and shape. And I may have a sterling one also but have to find the pictures on it..

What a great looking ring find, I'm thinking early 20thc as well.
It looks similar to a ring I restored in 2013 for a friend who found this one in New Hampshire.

Very nice ring OBN. Great that it has the face plate and the inscription. Thanks for the info.

Nice job on the restoration antiquarian. Great pics.

Nice find! I think your ring is pre WW1 due to the eagle design. Most military style rings will pattern after the military branch crest at the time. Yours looks pretty early. The military branches never issued rings but there’s always someone close by that have items for soldiers, sailors, marines and airmen to spend their money on. There are some experts here that should be able to narrow it down for you.

Thanks for the comments Rmeav8r. I have looked at hundreds of images and just cant seem to find another eagle depicted like this one is, over what appears to be crossed swords. I was able to view the flat, face plate of the ring under a high powered magnifier and can see what appears to be the curved and vertical lines of a shield similar to that on a shield nickel. I believe the face of the ring was just worn down over time. The size appears to be that of a pinky ring.

Thanks scruggs! Was exactly one year detecting to the day when I last found a ring.
