I hunted a spot that I found two US buckles, a spur along with a few buttons and a bunch of bullets. I'm still finding a few bullets from here and I found this spoon down deep, when I cleaned the handle I saw US and also has Wallace N.S. on the back. I've looked online and can not find any info about it. I found one old TNet post about one just like it and some other guys responded that they have found the same type in camps and battle sites. I was looking to see if someone can give a positive ID that these would have been used by the Army during the War. Thanks-David

This is the old post

Congratulations on the nice relic hunt! :occasion14:

That's a nice link vpnavy. Still not sure how old these could be.

I can't date your spoon, but I can tell you that our Civil War battlefields and parks were not always protected the way they are today. Battlefield areas were used regularly for troop encampments and training in the late 19th and early 20th C. So you could find post-CW relics mixed in...

Here is a pic of a WWI tank on the Gettysburg battlefield. Note the battlefield markers tot he right in the photo.

Thanks for the reply Matt. Yeah I find WWII era relics often around here as they ran maneuvers through this area a lot. I just haven't found any in this spot and it looked to be older than WWII, but it may have been used by those guys and is post Civil War.

That’s amazing! Congrats on all the finds!

Great finds. The spur is amazing.

Very interesting finds you got there.

NICE RELIC FINDS,

Nice finds! Your spoon was made from around WWI through the late 30s or early 40s.
