Used Whites MTX - What to look for?

I'm picking up my first metal detector tomorrow, a Whites MTX. What should I be on the look out for in a used poduct? It looks pretty clean from the photos, but I really don't have much information on detectors in general.

Any advice on picking up a used machiene is appreciated.

First make sure it works throw change on ground scan it. Turn up discrimination and scan over something steel. And make sure all buttons/ knobs do something.. if not sure what they are/mean look them up for that machine ahead of time so you know how to use it.. just enough for a rough trial and if all worked then get home and play

Picked it up today, works great. Seller was great, gave me a full tutorial on how to use it. Went through all the settings. I've moved my inquiries into the Whites forum if anyone can chime in now that I own the machine.

Haha soon you will swing so much your arm will hurt and knees too from digging. Nice thing about this hobby is that excitement don't go away for most.
