I went back to one of my sites today to try to find the rest of a flintlock pistol that I found the other day. It was difficult enough trying to ID just the barrel with all the rust.(Thanks for the help of my Treasurenet friends) Now, I'm trying to figure out what this 57mm X 42mm brass frame is. I also came home with a Civil War Infantry Button, a .59 caliber carved chess piece, a ring and another unusual button.
Please feel free to chime in with any possible IDs on the frame or buttons. frame.webpframe2.webpodd button.webp

Awesome finds! Congrats!

Absolutely fantastic

No IDs, but I love those buttons.

Nice!!! Congrats!!!

Top left button is an Infantry one. Depending on whether it was enlisted or officers it would date pre 1854 for enlisted and I am not sure when the officer's button lost the "I" in the shield. Hopefully someone more knowledgeable will tell you (and me) when that happened. Is it possible to read a backmark on it? The other two buttons are civilian fashion ones.

The 22mm Infantry button back mark is Canfield Bro & Co.

Frames appear to be box liners for daguerreotype photos goggle and you shall see. Also civil war era

The 22mm Infantry button back mark is Canfield Bro & Co.

Canfield Bro and Co was in business from 1834 to 1880. Their buttons were made by Scovil etc.

I like those buttons. Nice finds.
