Well bummer...I should have read this thread earlier! I'm new to posting here, but have been reading the threads for awhile. I live in San Antonio, and go down to Uvalde often. You guys will love Park Chalk Bluff.....it is a very beautiful and historic place. (be sure to read the historical markers on the opposite side of hwy 55 at the entrance to the park!) If you guys have the time, drive down to where the Nueces river crosses hwy 55....it's known as the 19 mile crossing....beautiful spot. If you go further down hwy 55, you come to a little spot known as Montell. There was a mission there in the early 1700's...there are historical markers in town..or whats left of a town. Wish I were there...maybe next year! Have fun and be safe!
