Metal Detecting
old lamp parts.webpHave been metal detecting for little over a year now (TEKNETICS) and have found many coins, buttons, rings, and artifacts. As the ground is pretty much frozen now here in N.J. detecting and digging is not easy. However there is one place within walking distance which lies behind a street of homes and the creek which was lived and worked on at one time but is long deserted and overgrown with trees and brush. It is here that I have found the following over the last week up to and including today.

Nice finds. Love the old trap. You keep digging all that big stuff out and I bet the coins come faster. Any mintmark on the nickle?

No mint mark on the 1912 Liberty nickel but not surprising as am only 20 miles from Philadelphia. Trapped as a boy so was happy to find the old Victor leg hold trap (still works). Really like the old horse ring and small hand forged strap hinge. I found a much longer strap hinge several weeks ago. I have an old barn that predates the civil war with both strap hinges and horse rings on it. The old flat (sad) iron weighs about 5 lbs. It was probably my heaviest find to date. Also have added a pic of 2 brass Victorian gas lamp pieces.
