Well I'm unemployed as of the end of this week so I'm gonna hunt as many days as I can.

I picked up a new vanquish 440 yesterday on a trade. I took it to a pounded wooded area that once had a large pavillion there back in the 20s and 30s.

Its produced in the past but we've pounded it with the dfx etrac ctx and it stopped producing.

Decided to see what the vanquish could do. It didnt disappoint. It's a very well built little machine.

I got a solid 34 and turned up a heavy silver handle to a knife or something 20 mins into the hunt

There weren't alot of signals to recover but it did a pretty damn good job. It likes iron which I'm not a big fan of chasing all day but no worse than the nox.

Ctx I almost never dig iron nor with the etrac. Overall machine runs pretty well and has the power to find some older deeper targets.

If your on budget this is a good little machine for the money. I'll get it out a few more times this week and see if I can master it a little more.

Congrats on the awesome relic hunt! :occasion14:

Very Nice!!! Congrats!!!

Great finds! I found an almost identical plate with holes in it myself. Any ideas as to what it is? Heel plate? Flattened out spoon?

Looks like you did really well at your hammered spot. I have a spot I've hit countless times and when I find anything I tell myself that was something that I missed in the past. Those missed targets actually turn out to be good sometimes. That silver handle looks like a pretty nice find! Maybe it went to a mirror if not a knife.

Thanks guys,

Yeah you nailed it heel plate. They turn up at pre 1900 home sites.

Yeah it may very well be a handle to a brush etc. Its really well made with nice engravings.

And yes a lot of the time there just misses I agree. But sometimes different machines just seem to locate things differently than the others.

how do you think a total newbie would do with the Vanquish 440?

I have the 540. I like it. I kick the horseshoe on if I'm not sure about iron. There's some question about if the iron bias on some is working right, but kicking it into all metal helps double check a signal.

Good,

It's a very simple turn on and go machine. Not complicated at all super easy to use good pre set program auto noise cancel when you fire the machine up.

It's a good machine. If it can find items at the types of areas I hunt it's good.

Yeah iron sounds good on it. I played around with it too turning the horse shoe on and off. Overall though it's a quality machine
