no matter what mode i turn the detector to,it just hums.fresh new batteries ,changed coils,cleaned out coil cover. it ground balances okay and then it hums.sensitivity up or down,threshold the same,in am or disc,it just hums.no matter where i point it.switched the frequencies back and forth,hum!!okay i know let tesoro sort it out.in the meantime i'll be in withdrawal symtoms. it's my favorite detector and my wife threatens divorse if i bring it into bed to keep it warm. ho hum, see ya blowfly

Is it like it's stuck in all metal or does it beep when over a target?

Might sound silly, but what kind of batteries are you using? Duracell and Energizer weren't worth a darn in my Vaquero. Switched to Panasonic Industrial batts. and never had a problem after that.

I agree, I once put a new battery in mine and it went nuts. Put the old one back in, even though it was about shot, and things went back to normal. Go out and get a couple of new batteries before you do anything else.
